  • Swanage PierThe Swanage and the Purbeck Coast, in the county of Dorset, offer an abundance of globally significant geological features. The Jurassic Coast as a whole comprises eight sections along 155 km of largely undeveloped coast, which displays 185 million years of the earth’s history, including a number of internationally important fossil localities.
  • Junior CoursesWe offer Junior Courses for individual students from early January to early May and from early June to mid September and for groups all year round. The first course offered at Harrow House in 1969 was a Junior Course, which makes our Junior Programme one of the most established and longest running Junior Courses in the UK. The success of these courses is borne out by the very high student return rate, with up to 40% of students returning for a second year and many returning for a number of years thereafter. Other contributing factors are: Our unrivalled facilities, active evening programme with a wide range of social activities, sports and games every evening, dedicated teachers, an international atmosphere with over 50 different nationalities (in the summer season), supervision by our residential staff; on-site residential accommodation and the safety of Swanage as a destination, to name but a few.
  • Isle of PurbeckFor those with a love of the outdoors there are many popular sightseeing destinations within easy reach of Harrow House. These include Durlston Country Park, Dancing Ledge, Winspit, Chapmans Pool, Poole Harbour, Wareham and Kimmeridge. The Tank Museum and Monkey World at Bovington are also popular with visitors to the area so is Lulworth Castle. Year round the Isle of Purbeck does have a lot offer.

Harrow House has a pool of experienced, professional staff all of whom are specifically trained and qualified in the teaching of English as a foreign language. The care and attention given to students by our teaching staff, both inside and outside of the classroom, contributes greatly to the friendly and happy atmosphere at Harrow House.

The College is registered with the Department for Education (Dfe), inspected by Ofsted and the Independent Schools Inspectorate, receiving the highest grading in all areas from the ISI. Harrow is also accredited by the British Council and is a founder member of English UK and Young Learners English UK.

Junior students at Harrow House regularly get the chance to interact with English students at local schools in after school clubs and joint activities. This is part of an ongoing integration initiative. We maintain small class sizes ranging between 8 and 16 students. At Harrow House we take great pride in the progress our students make, both linguistically and personally, and our ability to satisfy our students' needs. Our dedicated welfare team ensures the highest standard of student care at all times.

Harrow House is not just a 9 to 5 English language school. We offer much more, including an English boarding school experience. Our unrivalled facilities provide students are provided with a wide variety of social and sporting activities when not in the classroom.
